What is higher?

I really love animals regardless of species. Also i like to give meaning using animals, so the most of my works have a lots of animals. 

This work is the one of the most favorite work ever i have created. 

The first draft. 

What i want to saying in this work is criticism of human society. Commonly, people think that they are superior to all kind of animals. However, in human society, there are plenty of crime such as murder, rape and so on. Even some people commit suicide. There is no limit to human's desire that want to get everything.

Otherwise, animals follow the laws of nature. Their society is good order. Is it right that we are superior to animals? There are no crime, no problem. I want to ask this question to people by drawing work.

In my work, there are lots of animals that are in Safari. They have lived following their line that show their own territory, and there are some human who commit crime. I want to compare these two different situations by arranging them at the same place.

Self Portrait

This work featured Sin Saim-dang. Sin Sainm-dang is well-known as a wise mother and good wife in Korea. The picture of the woman is Shin Sain-dang. Actually the important thing is not the meaning of Shin Sain-dang, but her appearance. 

When i was a high school student, my nickname was Sin Sainm-dang. As i hated my curry hair, i usually fixed my hair using hair pin. As a result, i always got same hair style like her! 

This memory played a role as inspiration of self portrait work. It consists of lots of hair pin that make my hair style like Sin Sainm-dang. These are gathered and appeared Sin Sainm-dang's portrait. 

Sometime i think that one person's a part of memory could be the most effective way to express he or she. Although there aren't my face, you can understand my memory of curry hair, and can imagine my childhood. 

A Korean deep-color pigment process

This was the first time that i dealt with deep - color pigment.

Actually that was just practice not a real work.

I copied from a painting by ancient Chinese painter.

One thing that i regretted is the color of mountain. Although it is background, having too deep color. As a result it doesn't match other objects. haha As i said previously, This is just practice!! so.. never mind :D

2011 Basic Korean Painting Class

I created these works when i was freshman.This art class was basic Korean art.
I tried to paint various methods. At that time i just underwent lots of material's feeling and texture rather than to give the specific meaning.

To paint using glue

Actually i used glue made of cow oil. It is different from the glue that people would use when they stick paper. We called this 아교(Ah-gyo, 阿膠)

To use different material

The first work,i used only art brush especially sumi brush. However, the second work, i used lots of stuff such as sponge, branch and leaf except for art brush.

I painted my own portrait, and the flowers next to my portrait were painted different way.

The upper flower was painted on the dry paper. Otherwise, the lower flower was painted wet on wet, so i obtained this effect by painting on the wet paper.
